My wife, Kathy, and I recently returned from our annual ’70s Rock and Romance Cruise aboard the Celebrity Summit.

The annual cruise sailed from Miami to Aruba and Curacao March 14 – 21 with more than 2,000 music enthusiasts onboard. We have not missed a single sailing of this music cruise since it was started in 2017 (it did not sail in 2021 due to Covid).

We again got to experience dozens of concerts, intimate performances and interactive events with some of our favorite artists from the ‘70s like Foreigner, Randy Bachman (Guess Who and BTO), Dave Mason, Don McLean, Pablo Cruise, Ambrosia, WAR, Firefall, Orleans and more.

In addition to seeing all these great performances in small, medium and large venues, we got to reconnect with our past through new and old friendships with fellow music cruisers that we have met over the past few years.

An added feature to this cruise is the interaction you get with the artists themselves. They are roaming about the ship and talking with cruisers … many of which let you take selfies or sign autographs on the spot.

Performing artists onboard this past March were Foreigner, Randy Bachman, Dave Mason, WAR, Don McLean, Gino Vannelli, Generation Radio, Peter Asher, Ambrosia, Pablo Cruise, Firefall, Orleans, The Cowsills, Robert Hart and Dave Bucket Colwell (formerly of Bad Co.), Peter Beckett (the voice of Player), John Ford Coley and Elliot Lurie (of Looking Glass).

Dave Mason sat down for an interview March 16 in the Sky Lounge.

Additionally, a multitude of tribute artists each performed at least two shows like Queen Nation, Bee Gees Gold, the LSB Experience, Hotel California – A Salute to the Eagles, The Newbees, Bella Donna (tribute to Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac), Lez Zeppelin, Bad Ass Brass, Troubadours, Creedence Revived, Doobie Others, Cara Lee, George Trullinger, Tim Stamper, Hal Bruce, Bonnie Mason, Kevin Ashba, OK Naledi, Scotti Mann, Thomas Mulready and Vanity Crash.

Hotel California A Salute to The Eagles performed March 19 and 20 on the pool deck stage.

Produced by StarVista Live, the cruise features daily concerts (on the pool stage, in intimate venues and in the main theater), artist Q & A’s, trivia contests, themed costume nights and other interactive events.

Other themed music cruises produced by StarVista Live include Malt Shop Memories, Flower Power, Ultimate Disco, Soul Train, Country Music, Big Easy and Sandy Beaches.

Looking ahead, we are setting our sights on the next sailing of the 70s Rock and Romance Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Cozumel and Costa Maya on March 15 – 22, 2025, onboard Celebrity Summit.

So far, the 2025 artist lineup includes Air Supply, Kansas, John Lodge (The Moody Blues), The Orchestra, The Guess Who, Mark Farner, Melissa Manchester, Barry Goudreau (Boston), Rare Earth, Al McKay (Earth Wind & Fire), Atlanta Rhythm Section and more to be added.

Cabins go on sale to the general public the morning of Thursday, April 4. If you want to experience the great music of the 1970s with 2,000 like-minded fans, you won’t want to miss this “feel good party at sea.”
