A Comedy of Tenors at Florida Rep

Florida Repertory Theatre will stage Ken Ludwig’s A Comedy of Tenors Feb. 16 through March 3 in the Historic Arcade Theatre in downtown Fort Myers.

A Comedy of Tenors takes place in 1930s Paris where arrangements for the concert of the century are underway – as long as the producer can keep the Italian opera superstar and his hot-blooded wife from causing chaos (which they always do!). Set in a lavish Parisian hotel suite, four tenors, two wives, and three girlfriends trigger mayhem of the most hilarious kind – while a soccer stadium filled with screaming fans await the arrival of opera superstar Tito Merelli. Mistaken identities, diva-sized egos, and bedroom hijinks clash in operatic proportion in this madcap sequel to Lend Me a Tenor.

“We have an all-star cast leading this hilarious production including Bradley Dean who has appeared in dozens of Broadway shows,” said producing artistic director Greg Longenhagen, “Dean will play dual roles in our production popping in and out of character at the drop of a hat and will be joined by other fantastic singer-actors who will delight the audience with their vocals while simultaneously tickling their funny bones.”
The cast features returning actors Carine Montbertrand (Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help), Jackie Schram (A Sherlock Carol) and Jeremy Sevelovitz (Million Dollar Quartet) along with New York-based actors Jesse Corbin, Bradley Dean, and Gregory North making their Florida Rep debuts, and Florida Rep acting intern, Haley Sweat, making her Arcade Theatre debut.
Ensemble member Chris Clavelli (The Importance of Being Ernest) directs the production.
