The Bower School of Music & the Arts at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Theatre Program will present An Enemy of the People written by Henrik Ibsen and directed by theatre professor Dan Bacalzo.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 21 -30, the production was delayed by Hurricane Ian and will now be presented Nov. 18 – 20 in TheatreLab in the Arts Complex at FGCU in Fort Myers.
A stubborn doctor wants to save lives by bringing attention to a public health crisis, but his efforts are stymied by politicians and citizens concerned with economic repercussions. Branded an “enemy of the people” by those seeking to silence him, he stands to lose everything dear to him – his job, his reputation, his family, and their future well-being – if he continues to speak out.
Performances will be Nov. 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 and 20 at 2 p.m.
There will also be a discussion with the cast and crew following the 2 p.m. performance on Nov. 19.
Tickets for this event are $10 for the general public and $7 for students and are available for purchase online at fgcu.edu/theatrelab, or at the door, based on availability.
