Arts for ACT Gallery in downtown Fort Myers will feature artist Anna Forrest Fischler in April.
An opening reception will be held Friday, April 5 from 5 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with Fort Myers Art Walk.
Anna Forrest Fischler is a Fort Myers local currently in her third year studying illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work represents a caring and compulsive urge to catalog her relationships and surroundings before the impermanence of college life lets them pass by.
She uses a variety of media and a visual style that leans toward realism with a fondness for saturated colors, geometric shapes, and camouflage-like layering. In this series, she used observation en plein air and quilt patterns to commemorate nostalgic views. Most of these pieces are a combination of gouache and colored pencil, using salt water from each scene to mix the paint as she worked, imbuing each piece with a physical connection to the location.
Anna had her first exhibit at Arts for ACT Gallery when she was a high school student, four years ago. That exhibit was a “sell out.” Come see her latest creations.
ACT gallery is curated by Claudia Goode with the help of ACT artists and volunteers. The gallery is currently seeking volunteers and new artists. If you love art, and want to help the organization, contact Gallery hours are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
