Despite the absence of a formal Art Walk last night in the River District, a handful of galleries were open for business.

The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center held an opening reception for a juried show called Rumor or Reality in the first floor gallery, and a Monika Bokelmann exhibit opened upstairs.

In the Rumors or Reality exhibit, best in show recipient was Alexis Lago for his piece titled “Razon inversa” and SBDAC pick was Stacie Krupa for her piece titled “Zombie Ritual.”

Also on First Street, Arts for ACT Gallery opened a group exhibit entitled BEEcause that day. The gallery is also featuring a retrospective exhibit with art by the late Joel Loeper.

Ollie Mack Gallery on Jackson Street and the Franklin Shops on First were also open last night.

Earlier in the day, DAAS Co-Op Gallery and Gifts on Fowler Street exhibited Pieces from the Vault exhibit with past art by David Acevedo and Xavier Brignoni.

The River District Alliance has not announced when Art Walk will return to downtown Fort Myers. Until recent months, Art Walk had never been canceled. The monthly Fort Myers Art Walk was started by a group of art galleries and art enthusiasts and debuted in October of 2008.
