The Alliance for the Arts March exhibition, its 35th Annual All Florida, will showcase from March 6 through March 28 at 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers.
This exhibition features pieces created by artists working in a wide variety of media from all over the state of Florida. The juried entries come together for an exciting exhibition representing today’s Florida artists.
From more than 800 entries, 62 pieces were selected by the juror. Radel, Susan Ritter, Whitt Robins, Sharon Rodgers, Myriah Rohl, Sherry Rohl, Sonia Rosa, Carol Rosenberg, Caitlin Rosolen, Thomas Roth, Melinda Russek, Gianna Santucci, Ellen Sayet, Alicia Schmidt, Elise Sewall, Tammra Sigler, Doug Smithwick, Joan Sonnenberg, Carolyn Steele, Lisa Tracy, Daniel Venditti, Mary Voytek, Herman Weinberg, Curtis Whitwam, LouAnn Wukitsch, Roseline Young and Pat Zalisko.
This year’s juror is Shawn Pettersen, who received his Master of Fine Arts Degree from Montclair State University in 2005, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling College in 2003. His work is primarily based in sculpture and drawing, and often surrounds themes of displacement, memory, and being lost. Shawn has worked as a graphic designer, creative director, adjunct professor, jeweler, and artist’s assistant for several prominent artists in New York. His work has been shown regionally and nationally. Shawn currently teaches sculpture and is the studio coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast University.
The Alliance will host an online, virtual opening reception on March 5 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. The behind-the-scenes evening will feature a guided tour of the exhibit and awards as well as a brief presentation from the juror on his inspiration and process for the show. The reception is free to attend, although a $5 suggested donation keeps Alliance programming affordable and accessible. Awards for this show include $1,000 Best In Show, a $250 Golden Colors Gift Certificate for second place, $100 for third place and a complimentary Alliance membership for the Juror’s Choice Award.
