On Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m., Neenie’s House will host its first artist showcase. ArtSmack is the new venue for local artists to exhibit their work.
Janeen Vanko, the owner of Neenie’s House, is a neighborhood activist in her East Palm area. She is bringing arts and music and local culture to her very cool space that is located in a mixed ethnic commercial area.
The debut of ArtSmack on Dec 13 will highlight the work of Paul Dengler.
Paul teaches at Veterans Park Academy for the Arts in Lehigh Acres. He is
an award winning and nationally recognized photographer for his work on the PBS documentary, Family Pictures USA. Paul will be showing his photographs from his trip to Cuba in 2016. There will be an opening reception, with Paul’s work on display through the month.
Support Janeen’s efforts to bring a more diversified arts scene to Fort Myers. Her shop also is the home of Love Your Rebellion’s Zine Library. She also has re-loved stuff and social justice T-shirts for sale in the shop. And every weekend is the East Palm Mercado, an outdoor market with vendors selling plants, art, jewelry and more.
