On Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 pm, Neenie’s House will host the next artist showcase. ArtSmack is a new venue for local artists to exhibit their work.
Janeen Vanko, the owner of Neenie’s House is a neighborhood activist in her East Palm area. She is bringing arts and music and local culture to her very cool space, that is located in a mixed ethnic commercial area.
ArtSmack2 will showcase the work of Rose Jung, a mixed media artist from Southwest Florida. Her art is inspired by her travels and cultural experiences. Her travels have taken her to all seven continents of the planet. She has lived in Hawaii and the Marianas Islands.
While living on Saipan, she was selected as a participant for the Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture. Rose has exhibited at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, Alliance for the Arts, Arts for ACT Gallery, Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda and the Center for the Arts in Bonita Springs.
ArtSmack2 will also have entertainment and refreshments celebrating Chinese New Year 2020 – the year of the rat – which is a good thing.
Support Janeen’s efforts to bring a diversified arts scene to the East Palm Neighborhood. Neenie’s House is also the home of Love Your Rebellion’s Zine Library. Her shop also sells artsy gifts and social justice T-shirts. And of course, reloved stuff. Every weekend is the Mercado, an outdoor market, with vendors selling a variety of products. Her backyard, Peace Plaza, is also available as a rental event space.
Call Janeen at 224-678-4901 for additional information or visit online at www.neenieshouse.com.
Neenie’s House is located at 481 Marsh Ave., Fort Myers (just off Palm Beach Boulevard).
