Bell Tower and Artsemble Underground gallery hold Battle of the Arts each month through 2021. It started in May and takes place the second Saturday of the month from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Visitors can watch local artists create during that time. A panel of judges selects the monthly winner who advances to the grand finale.
The next event will be held Saturday, July 10 at 5 p.m. at Bell Tower in Fort Myers.
During the event, local artists will have three hours to create a new work of art, each competing in two categories: The All Star Award category and the People’s Choice category. While the artists are working in their open-air “studios” at Bell Tower, guests can watch the creative process, meet the artists and enjoy live music performed by local musicians. At 8 p.m., when the artists have concluded their works of art, a panel of three celebrity judges will review their work and choose a winner for the All Star Award.
A string quartet from the Southwest Florida Symphony is set to perform a free concert during Battle fo the Arts on July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. in its Artistic and Operations Center at Bell Tower while a couple dozen artists compete across the strip.
The performance by a Southwest Florida Symphony string quartet will feature popular music, and a “Musical Sound Lab” which will allow visitors the opportunity to play some string and percussion instruments. This month will feature musicians Nora Lastre and Ariel Elliot on the violin, Hilary Gamble on the viola, and Scott Crowley on the cello.
