BIG ARTS to unveil new facilities with open house Jan. 25

BIG ARTS is opening the doors of its new home and the community is invited to join the celebration. BIG ARTS will be hosting a community open house on Saturday, Jan. 25 from noon to 4 p.m.
The open house is free and will feature live music performed by the popular Island Jazz and the BIG ARTS Community Band and Chorus, as well as food provided by Rib City. Guests will be able to tour the garden area, art gallery and experience the brand new state of the art performance hall.
“We’re thrilled to finally be able to open our doors and show off this gorgeous new facility to the public,” exclaimed Don Rice, co-chair of the board of directors. “BIG ARTS mission is to provide quality arts and entertainment to the Sanibel and Captiva community, and we couldn’t think for a better way to celebrate our opening than with the much loved talent from our own community.”

The event will begin at noon with Island Jazz performing in the garden. The gallery which will be open all day featuring the first fine arts exhibit of the year, “Time for Joy” by renowned artist Mally Khorasantchi. At 1 p.m., guests will get a chance to experience the new state of the art performance hall with the BIG ARTS Community Chorus. Island Jazz will perform in the garden all day and the finale is the BIG ARTS Concert Band at 3 p.m.

Throughout the day, guests will be able to move freely around the facility and enjoy BBQ chicken and pork sliders, potato salad and coleslaw as they take in the sights and sounds of the day. “This is a celebration of not just the new facility, but the amazing people who make up the Sanibel and Captiva community who have supported the arts on the island throughout the years” said Susan Heisler, board co-chair. “We hope guests get a chance to experience everything the new building has to offer, grab a bite to eat and most importantly enjoy the art and music.”
