The local music venue has been doing a monthly blues event since May that has featured a national act whose tour is coming through the area. The Rhythm House is growing that audience and has collaborated with local blues musician Marty Stokes to help bolster the venue’s blues calendar and reputation.
“The Rhythm House is continually striving to improve its venue,” says Stokes. He reports the ambience is better and the lighting allows for more of a blues house kind of atmosphere. “The future looks good,” says Stokes in regard to more blues concerts at DJ’s Rhythm House.

Johnny Jensen is a 16 year old blues/fusion/jazz artist who resides on Captiva. His love for music began at a very young age. At age 2, he would sit for hours and strum on his toy guitar. When given a set of drums at age 4, he quickly shifted his attention to percussion. Some of his most recent accomplishments include being selected by the SWFL Blues Society to represent them in Memphis at the 2019 and 2020 International Blues Challenge.
Damon Fowler and the Marty Stokes Band will perform Sunday, Dec. 1.
