Bonita Springs Concert Band Dec. 10 at Riverside Park

The Bonita Springs Concert Band will present its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Riverside Park in Downtown Old Bonita Springs. The concert will be played in the beautifully decorated park.
Performing with the band will be guest vocalist Mark Sanders who will sing “The Christmas Song” and “Til I Hear You Sing.”
Mark Sanders grew up in Marion, Ill., spent 15 years in New York City and now calls Fort Myers his home. He has appeared in theatrical productions and concerts around the world. Mark was seen as ‘Perchik’ on the Broadway National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof starring the great Theodore Bikel.

He has become a favorite soloist with the Gulf Coast Symphony, performing at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers as well as the Naples and Bonita Springs Concert Bands.
Mark has shared the stage with Broadway stars including Sutton Foster, Stephanie J. Block, Alice Ripley, Robert Cuccioli, Beth Leavel, Lisa Vroman and Andrea McArdle as well as Hollywood stars Jeff Goldblum, Ana Gasteyer, Adrienne Barbeau, Morgan Fairchild, Sally Struthers and more.
Other songs the band will play include numerous songs of the season including “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “Merry Christmas Darling,” “We Three Kings” and “Christmas at the Movies.”
Members are under the direction of Gary Smith who retired after 24 years as conductor of the University of Illinois Marching Illini Band and Symphonic Band. This is the 10th season that Gary has led the band. Gary says “the talent of these musicians is tremendous, ranging in age from 16 to 90.”
