Bonita Springs Concert Band returns Nov. 6

The first concert of the season by the Bonita Springs Concert Band will be Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Park in downtown Old Bonita. Guest soloist is CJ Greer.
The concert will feature musical highlights honoring our Veterans and Military personal. Songs will include “Armed Forces Salute” with CJ Greer-vocalist. Other songs include John Philip Sousa’s “U.S. Field Artillery March.” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “Star Spangled Salute” and “America the Beautiful.” CJ will also sing “Freedom’s Call,” Irving Berlin’s “Songs of America” and “Don’t Rain on my Parade.”

CJ Greer

CJ is a music and music theater faculty member at the University Nevada-Reno campus. She has performed around the world from theme parks to Broadway to Carnegie Hall. As a performer, her singing has been described as “warm, lovely, powerful, and emotional.” CJ has received multiple Helen Hayes Award nominations for her performances.
The Bonita Springs Concert Band is under the direction of Gary Smith who retired after 24 years as conductor of the University of Illinois Marching Illini Band. This is the 9th season that Gary has led the band. Gary says “the talent of these musicians is tremendous, ranging in age from 15 to 90.”
