Sunday, Nov. 6 will be a special day at the Butterfly Estates in Fort Myers.
The beautifully revamped campus is showcasing artisans, crafters and artists for their 4th annual Makers’ Market festival. This year, more than 15 makers will be offering their handmade products, all carefully selected by the administration of DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts – one of the three shops in the complex and main promoter for the event.
The Butterfly Estates opened to the public in 2009 and has been one of the greatest family attractions ever since. Today, the space houses three specialty shops and a 3600 square feet butterfly conservatory, housing hundreds of species and their hosts plants. The Florida Native Butterfly Society, a non-profit organization, provides the necessary care, protection and preservation for the beautiful butterflies and plants that thrive in the complex. DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts, Thrifty Garden and Bullig Coffee & Bites are the three individually owned and operated businesses housed in the Estates. During the market day, they will be offering specials and surprises for all guests.
The Makers’ Market started four years ago, attracting around 1,500 visitors to the area. Many attendees had never been to the butterfly conservatory or knew about one existing in Fort Myers. This year, the entrance to the conservatory will be free of cost.
The makers selected will be selling a variety of items, ranging from fine crafts, handmade soaps, lotions, crystals, magnets, jewelry, accessories, clothing, artwork, and more. As every year, the focus of our market is on quality and uniqueness. These makers are all southwest Florida creatives who dedicate years to their crafts.
The Butterfly Estates and the shops are located at 1815 Fowler St. in downtown Fort Myers. The event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6. More information about the venue and how to become a co-op member can be found at daascoop.com or by calling 239-590-8645.
