DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is featuring a very special exhibition by member artist Yvonne Krystman in March.
The exhibition will feature a mufti-layered visual experience with a deeper focus on a complementary dialogue between material, content, the exhibition space and the encounter with the viewers. Krystman’s wearable art is shape-shifting visual artwork into new forms to inspire new perspectives. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, March 5 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. A special performance by contortionist Katarina Danks is scheduled for the opening night. The exhibition will be on display through March 27.

Yvonne Krystman is a contemporary mixed media visual artist and fashion designer. She is experimenting with a wide variety of materials to express the ideas she explore, and that includes, but is not limited to, mixed media works on canvas, clay, conceptual photography and more. In addition, she often photographs her work and transfers it into award winning fashion – a concept she calls “Portable Gallery.”
Katarina Danks is a contortionist, hand balancer and performance artist, collaborating with Krystman’s Art 4 Wear line. During her performance, she will stage an artistic fusion between acrobatic movement and visual expressions of art.
Danks is originally from Pittsburgh and she is trained in both Mongolian and Western contortion techniques, learning from the world’s most prestigious trainers and performers from Europe, Canada, the U.S.; and circuses like Cirque du Soleil, the Big Apple Circus, Ringling Brothers, and Circus Roncalli. She has performed locally for Circus Transform US, the Fort Myers Film Festival, Telemundo Television, HSN, Papa John’s and others.
DAAS invites all Southwest Florida art collectors, supporters and enthusiasts to join them for the opening reception. DAAS Co-Op is located at 1815 Fowler St. in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers. The gallery’s temporary business hours are Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information about the venue and how to become a member can be found at www.daascoop.com or by calling 239-590-8645.
