In the month of October, DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is showcasing the artwork of Mexican artist Cecilia Valadez.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition will be on display through Oct. 31.
Valadez art is influenced by her homeland of Mexico and the Southwest Florida environment. Her paintings provide an extraordinary insight into human nature, especially women, who have been the central theme of hers.

The woman, as the main figure, is the subject and the center of her works and is expressed in integrated textures and monochromatic tones. In these forms of expression, she evokes extraordinary visions and transitions of life as the main inspiration, influenced and touched by the new life that she chose to live. Valadez’ easel art has been included in important exhibitions such as SW Florida History Museum, Naples Depot, Baker Museum in Naples, International Art Fair and Biennial in Miami, Gulf Coast University, Hodges University and others in New York and Mexico.
In addition, several of her works are part of private European collections. The female figurative paintings symbolize the artistic essence of life and explore the spontaneity and drama of our Spanish language. The visual intensity and psychological drama in these magnificent paintings reveal a timeless perspective and capture the passion, emotion and visceral mystique of the female figure. Her passionate creative strokes capture a unique artistic vision.
The gallery invites all Southwest Florida art collectors, supporters and enthusiasts to join us for the opening reception on Friday, October 1, 2021, starting at 6:00pm and meet the artist.
DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler St. in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers. The gallery’s temporary business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
