Hindsight: A Painters Journey — Mary Parkman is a new art exhibition opening Nov. 4 at the Visual Arts Center on Old 41 Road in Bonita Springs. This show highlights the evolving body of work by Mary Parkman, celebrated artist and beloved painting instructor.
Mary Parkman graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a degree in fine arts and continued her study of art at the New York Studio School in Manhattan and the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy.
Having begun her career as a representational painter of portraits and landscapes, Parkman’s work is increasingly abstract with greater focus on color, texture, and the process of applying paint to canvas.
“With hindsight things are obvious that were not obvious from the outset. One can evaluate past choices more clearly with the passage of time. My years of exploration were, and continue to be, deep dives of curiosity. The selection of paintings in the Hindsight exhibition represents the body of work I created during my years of exploration in Italy, New York and Naples,” says Mary Parkman.
The exhibit is on view Nov. 4 – 29 at Visual Arts Center, Tranovich Gallery, 26100 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs.
An opening reception will be held Friday, Nov. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 239-495-8989 or visit online at www.artcenterbonita.org.
