Charlotte Players offer comedy and concerts in February

The Charlotte Players have another busy month of events at two different locations in February.

Bell, Book & Candle
Gillian Holroyd is one of the few modern people who can actually cast spells and perform feats of supernaturalism. She casts a spell over a unattached publisher, Shepherd Henderson, Partly to keep him away from a rival and partly because she is attracted to him. He falls head over heels in love with her at once and wants to marry her. But witches, unfortunately, cannot fall in love, and this minute imperfection leads to a number of difficulties. Ultimately, the lady breaks with her companions in witchery, preferring the normal and human love offered by the attractive publisher. But before the happy conclusion of the romance, Gillian comes very near to losing him. Bell, Book and Candle will be on stage Feb. 4 – 20 at Langdon Playhouse, 1182 Market Circle, Port Charlotte

Edwards Twins

Stand-Up Comedy Show
Make your Valentine’s Day merry as you fall in love with these fun, refreshing comedians. Harley Worthit, a talented musician and comic, has entertained thousands in Branson and Pigeon Forge over 25 years with his down-home charm and wit. He’s performed at The Jim Stafford Theater, The Comedy Jamboree and The Comedy Barn–the award winning, best attended family friendly comedy venue in the country. Now a Florida resident, Harley’s getting standing ovations at venues throughout the Sunshine State. Tara Zimmerman has been making folks from Vancouver to NYC to Florida grin for more than a decade with tales of marriage to her beloved husband (B-O-B), family life, and her own misadventures. This is a Florida Comedy Network show hosted by Kathy McSteen.

Late Night Catechism
Late Nite Catechism is a solo comedy play about a fictional Catholic nun, written by Vicki Quade and Maripat Donovan. The show itself is a form of participatory theatre where the actress playing the nun is the only person on stage, and members of the audience become members of the nun’s school class. Late Night Catechism will be presented Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 75 Taylor St., Punta Gorda.

Cahal Dunne
Cahal Dunne, “Ireland’s Piano Man – The Man of Many Jackets,” possesses that certain magical quality known in show business as “it.” “It” transcends talent. “It” comes from deep within a great entertainer and washes over an audience, captivating them. This native of County Cork has a following of loyal admirers and friends that is unique in the rich history of Pittsburgh entertainment. and continues to make new friends with each appearance. Cahal Dunne will perform Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Langdon Playhouse, 1182 Market Circle, Port Charlotte.

John Denver tribute
Ted Vigil is a singer, songwriter, and John Denver tribute artist. Vigil has performed with John Denver’s lead guitarist, and has even played for Denver’s own “Windstar Foundation” in Colorado. With the uncanny resemblance and sound of the late John Denver, Ted Vigil performs many of Denver’s hits, including “Rocky Mountain High,” “Annie’s Song,” “Sunshine on My Shoulder,” and “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.”
Ted Vigil Trio performs Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 75 Taylor St., Punta Gorda.
