Celebrate music and the choral arts with Choral Artistry at three major events in early 2023. A dramatic concert, a major fundraiser and a very special 2023 SingOut! SWFL Community Choral Festival.
“We hope you’ll join us as we turn the page on the devastating events of 2022 and celebrate the resilience of our community with music in our own unique way,” says Patricia Rice, president of Choral Artistry’s Board.
On Sunday, Jan. 8 at 4 p.m., Choral Artistry presents “4 The Love of Piano” at The Music & Arts Community Center, 13411 Shire Lane (off Daniels) in Fort Myers. Led by artistic director Trent Brown, the performance will feature music for 4-hand piano and chorus and showcase the talents of not just Choral Artistry, but also two amazing pianists, Abigail Allison and Isabella Aubin. Tickets are $20 & $30; students $10)
On Jan 14 at 6 p.m. is Choral Artistry’s annual fundraiser – Rising Star Soiree at The Forest Country Club in South Fort Myers. Not held since before Covid, they again invite you for an evening of “fun-raising” and fabulous entertainment to support the choral arts in our community. You can support them by attending or by sponsoring a table for your family, friends, or your business, or by donating to the live or silent auction. Reach out to soiree chair Maureen LaRoche at 239-560-5695 or email contact@choralartistry.org to see how you can participate.
And then on Feb. 3 and 4, lend your voice to the “Let Freedom Sing” Chorus as they celebrate Black History Month at the area’s only annual Community Choral Festival, SingOut! SWFL at First Assembly Ministries (Colonial Boulevard & Summerlin Road) in For Myers. Both the workshops and the concluding concert will be led by internationally acclaimed composer/conductor Dr. Rollo Dilworth from Temple University in Philadelphia. Register as a singer for the three workshop sessions beginning Friday, Feb 3 at 6:30 p.m. (no audition required) or lend your ears on Saturday evening to enjoy the rousing and free festival concert at 7 p.m.
“This is a rare opportunity for local/regional singers and educators to work with and learn from a talented expert in the genre of Black choral music,” explained Choral Artistry’s artistic director Dr. Trent Brown. “I know it will be a unique and special experience for all who participate, and especially for those who register to sing in the festival chorus,” Dr. Brown added.
And this is only the beginning of the group’s exciting spring 2023 events. There’s more…. Vivaldi’s Gloria with orchestra in March at Moorings Presbyterian in Naples, and a collaboration with FGCU’s Orchestra & Choruses in April featuring the Poulenc Gloria and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.
