DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery moving to Alliance campus

DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts has announced its plans to relocate to a new facility in April.
The cooperative art gallery will remain active at its current location in the former Butterfly Estates complex until March 24. The administration of the gallery is hoping to reopen its doors in or around April 20 at the new location.
Last year’s closing of the butterfly conservatory had a negative impact on the business, lessening traffic and therefore reducing sales. “We feel like our time in the [Gardner’s Park] area has expired,” says owner and founding artist David Acevedo, who has upheld the DAAS mission since its original location in downtown Fort Myers in 2008.

“There were too many circumstances that happened one after the other, putting our entire enterprise at risk; and I just can’t see myself quitting and failing our artists at this time,” concludes Acevedo, who also co-founded and administers the Union Artist Studios and Arts & Eats Café – all soon to be coexisting in the same building in the Alliance for the Arts campus.
As a cooperative art gallery, the mission of DAAS is to represent and promote artists through a fair and honest membership program, making their art/product accessible to their clientele in a professionally curated space. Additionally, the venue hosts monthly guest exhibitions of quality and relevance, helping to promote the arts and cultural diversity of Southwest Florida. All of the members of the gallery hope that the community continues supporting this artful venue that brought so much vibrancy to the community for over 15 years.
The new location is 10051 McGregor Blvd., suite 104, in Fort Myers, as part of the campus of the Alliance for the Arts, corner of McGregor and Colonial boulevards. Updated information will be available on the gallery’s website at daascoop.com, as well as in their Facebook and Instagram accounts under @daascoop.
