In the month of February, DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is hosting renowned tattooer and visual artist Ananda War’s first solo exhibition.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 2 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition, entitled “IS” will be on display through Feb. 25.
This exhibition presents surreal visions, memories and inspirational messages of ink, paint, and experience. The works created automatically, as if dreaming, hold themes of hope, memories of Hurricane Ian and rebuilding sense of self after trauma.

Ananda War was born in Fort Myers where she lives still with her son and husband. A lifelong working artist, Ananda has been tattooing for 11 years and opened her own studio, Light Hand Tattoo & Healing Arts in 2019. Her recent works are largely inspired by dreams, neurodivergence, whimsy and losing her home in Hurricane Ian.
DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler St. in Fort Myers. The gallery’s business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information about the venue and/or how to become a member can be found at or by calling 239-590-8645.
