In the month of March, DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is showcasing the artwork of renowned tattoo and visual artist Piper Rudich.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, March 3 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition will be on display through April 2.
Rudich, who is a Fort Myers native and local tattoo business owner of 16 years, has been engaged in the arts since early childhood. She has spent most of her life and career drawing, painting, and tattooing portraits. However, there hasn’t been a medium or art form that she hasn’t touched. From oil painting, digital works, tattooing, sculpting, playing the piano and guitar, to her most recent exploration into wildlife and nature photography. Piper’s art has shifted and evolved throughout her twenty-two-year career, but one thing has remained constant, her desire to challenge herself by taking new mediums.
“In the midst of Covid, and extended quarantine due to her high-risk status, I found solace in the nature and wildlife surrounding me on my six-acre farm,” says the artist, who began photographing the magnificent creatures that would pay her visits and provide her with peace amongst the chaos and sadness plaguing the world due to Covid, hoping that each photograph could capture that peace to share with others.
DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler St. in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers. The gallery’s business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information about the venue or how to become a member can be found at daascoop.com or by calling 239-590-8645.
