DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts features the work of visual artist and co-owner Xavier Brignoni in October. The exhibition, entitled It Is What It Is, is a collection of bold, vibrant and edgy works created within the last two years.
An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Oct, 4 from 6 to 10 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition will be on display through Oct. 26.
Xavier Brignoni moved to Southwest Florida almost two decades ago. Since then, he has been immersed in the art scene of the area. Alongside other prominent artists and gallerists, he contributed to the establishment of the Fort Myers Art Walk in 2008, co-founded the Union Artist Studios in 2012 and the new DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts in 2016. He is the recipient of the 2017 FACE Award for his diversity and inclusion work within the artistic community.
In June 2018, Brignoni presented an over-the-top, symbolic and emotionally charged exhibition at DAAS Co-Op entitled The Balancing Act. Such powerful display, inspired strictly on a very personal phase of his life, cemented Brignoni as one of the area’s most popular creatives. This time for the It Is What It Is exhibition, his focus shifts to current affairs and his views on the world and other experiences.
During the month of October, the gallery will be filled with powerful compositions, which include a variety of mediums. Brignoni has been experimenting new techniques, such as spray painting, gold leaf application, stencils, and others. In addition to his known fine-art decoupage technique, he adds vibrancy with a 70’s inspired color palette in his minimalistic/pop-style execution. Anyone who witnessed his last exhibition knows how intense It Is What It Is will be.
DAAS Co-Op is located at 1815 Fowler St., Unit 3, in downtown Fort Myers. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery opens to the public on the first Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information can be found at www.daascoop.com or by calling 239-590-8645.
