In the month of December, DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is showcasing the artwork of Dom-O-Nick, aka The Glass Wizard.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition, also featuring the jewelry of Sandra Coyle, will be on display through Dec. 26.
Dom-O-Nick has been restoring and repairing crystal and glass items ranging from everyday glassware to precious pieces of Waterford and Lladró figurines for many years. The pieces damaged beyond repair are used to create new, fascinating original works of broken-glass art. When creating a newly inspired piece of art, it is often necessary to break a sound piece of glass in order to obtain the proper color, shape or size.

As Dom-O-Nick would tell you, “Each piece of glass I place on the canvas is equivalent to a single stroke of a brush.” He’ll also say that many times the glass “speaks” to him and guides its placement to reveal what it wants to become. The newly created art piece then lends itself gracefully to the pleasure of its viewer and to those lucky to own a special piece of his unique broken-glass art — a lifetime of enjoyment.
In this cheerful, holiday-inspired exhibit, Dom-O-Nick will showcase a select collection of his signature floral arrangements made from an assortment of colorful pieces of broken glass. The appreciative eye will detect the hundreds of glass shards delicately placed to create a floral bouquet that will last forever. Also on exhibit will be his classic depictions of landscapes, sunsets and even a doorway to paradise! These unique works of art provide the viewer with an explosion of color, depth and dimension that satisfy one’s love of nature while creatively capturing events that occur everyday. The Queen of this show, “The Lady in the Jeweled Hat” will be featured in a trilogy of her glass and crystal-studded adventures. Jewelry lovers will also be able to treat themselves to pieces of the hand-made repurposed crystal jewelry, made by Sandy, that inspired the creation of this lovely lady.
Dom-O-Nick is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited over recent years at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers, the Centers for the Arts in Bonita Springs, The Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Marco Island Center for the Arts, the COCO Art Gallery in Estero and Neenie’s House Arts and Cultural Emporium in Fort Myers.
DAAS invites all Southwest Florida art collectors, supporters and enthusiasts to join them for the opening reception to meet the artist.
DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler St. in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers.
