Hirdie Girdie Gallery invites everyone to a Valentine wine and chocolates reception on Feb. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m., in participation with Tower Gallery and Suncatchers’ Dream.
The gallery’s February guest artist Diana Ripoll will be in attendance to discuss her art techniques and inspiration.
Diana Ripoll is a mixed media acrylic and resin painter who relies on optimism, experimentation, and intuition to create her work. She was born with a natural fascination with brilliant color and abstract ideas.
Her world travels have contributed to a mental reservoir of snapshots and experiences that her subconscious mind draws upon to create her paintings. Diana rarely paints with a subject in mind, but instead chooses a color that excites her at the moment, then continues to add colors, and watch them flow, mix, and move.
The painting begins to paint itself. She stands back, discovers what is hidden, and consciously brings it out. Only when the work is completed does she find the true meaning of the piece and what inspired it. With each completed piece Diana looks forward to revisiting the story it tells. Diana’s goal is to constantly improve her skills and set a lighter tone in a tough world through color, and often humor, for herself and viewers of her paintings. Diana considers it a great privilege to paint and be heard above this noisy world without speaking.
Hirdie Girdie Gallery is located at 2490 Library Way on Sanibel.
