Exhibits, events at Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda

The Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda starts of October with its Passing of the Brushes event on Oct. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wyvern Hotel. The art exchange reception is an annual event. Visual Arts Center artists are chosen for this honor and their art decorates the walls of the Wyvern. Once a year all the art is changed, and the new art displayed.
Two exhibits continue to be on display in October. They include the Color exhibit in the main gallery which runs now through Oct. 12. Artists express themselves through color and the results are spectacular. This is a juried show that includes both 2D & 3D art.
The second exhibit is the Florida Watercolor Society’s 51st annual exhibition in the Goff Gallery and Rebecca Hall.
The Falling for Art exhibit opens Oct. 20 and runs through Nov. 7 in the main gallery. This exhibit is 2D only and is judged and juried. Artists are encouraged to bring their best work as this is not a themed show. A reception will be held Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.
