Explore East Palm at Neenie’s House

When Janeen Vanko bought a vintage Florida cottage and created Neenie’s House, she was hoping to turn the ethnic commercial area into Funkytown.
The arts were sadly missing in this area of town, yet there were so many cultures living and working there.
She figured – build it, and they will come. Well, almost two years later, progress has been made, but there is so much more that could happen to make this area the New Bohemia.
To date, Neenie’s House is a gift shop for affordable unique gifts – (she had the first RBG T-shirts in town) art, jewelry and vintage trinkets. Neenie’s is the home for Love Your Rebellion’s Zine Library – the only one in Southwest Florida.
She has had live bands, art shows, private birthday parties, even a quinceanera, in her rental event space – Peace Plaza.
And the weekend East Palm Mercado, her neighborhood fleamarket, is finally gaining popularity with the locals. “But much more can happen,” says Vanko.
Janeen would love to fill up the calendar with arts events every weekend. “So please explore the other Fort Myers. The time is now, and let’s bring the arts to East Palm,” she adds.
Neenie’s House is located 481 Marsh Ave. in Fort Myers (just off Palm Beach Boulevard. You can call Janeen Vanko at 224-678-4901 or visit online at www.neenieshouse.com.
