Independent filmmakers, actors, directors and patrons locally and from across the globe look forward to celebrating and sharing their creative cinematic storytelling at the 15th Annual Fort Myers Beach International Film Festival, Sept. 14 – 19 at the Beach Theater, 6425 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach.
In 2020, the festival, traditionally an April event moved to September 2020 as a fully virtual weeklong event, including its awards ceremony due to abundant concern for the welfare of all attendees and volunteers during COVID-19 pandemic. As the task of testing and vaccinating is in full swing, the Festival will remain a September event for one more year.
Exercising caution and following CDC guidelines, organizers are planning for an in-person event. Leading up to the event, aficionados can expect virtual live interviews with the filmmakers via the Festival’s IG Live.
The 2021 Fort Myers Beach International Film Festival expands over five days including its opening reception, screenings, filmmaker meet-ups and morning coffee talks finishing with a closing awards reception. New and returning patrons will experience various genres ranging from shorts packages, documentaries and features produced by local, national, and international independent filmmakers.
“We’re so grateful to be able to once again support independent filmmakers and their projects in person. Being able to bring back our festival in person to the Fort Myers Beach community means so much to the organizers, volunteers and our patrons, said festival executive director Janeen Paulauskis.”
Reeling in its 15th year, the Fort Myers Beach International continues to showcase the absolute best independent storytelling talents of local, state-wide, national, and global filmmakers and directors. Over the last 15 years, over 2,200 shorts, features and documentaries have been screened at this enduring film festival, a cinematic treasure in Southwest Florida. The Fort Myers Beach International Festival serves to educate, entertain, and elevate the craft of independent filmmaking
