The fireworks show this July 4 will be a true Freedom Fest, celebrating the 248th birthday of our nation in downtown Fort Myers. The River District Alliance (RDA) along with the City of Fort Myers and Caloosa Sound Amphitheater will host a celebration like no other in Southwest Florida.
The event will kick off honoring Southwest Florida veterans, followed by a Star-Spangled Salute with The Venice Symphony Jazz Orchestra. The 17-piece orchestra led by musical director Peter Barenbregge, will perform patriotic hits; followed by a spectacular firework show at 9:30 p.m.
General admission is free and does not require a ticket, but seating is not provided. Attendees should bring a foldable lawn chair or blanket for your comfort. Bars will be on site for beverage purchases.
VIP tickets include an unassigned chair in the VIP section with a prime view of the performance and fireworks, an American BBQ buffet, access to air conditioned restrooms in the Caloosa Sound Convention Center, access to a private cash bar, and the option to add on parking.
Whether you have heard The Venice Symphony Jazz Orchestra before or excited to experience it for the first time, the Star-Spangled Salute remains an unmissable event that kicks off Independence Day for all of us. This concert will feature the newly retired vocalist Sgt. First Class Randy Wight from the United States Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors. Randy has performed at many significant events including presidential inauguration parades, diplomatic relations missions and the Kennedy Center.
A fireworks show in downtown Fort Myers over the Caloosahatchee River will begin after the concert. The fireworks show has been made possible with sponsorship from Suntex Marinas, Sawyer Smith & Wilbur Smith LLC, and the Luminary Hotel and Co.
“Downtown is a great place to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and start a new family tradition,” says Lisa Sbuttoni, RDA president and CEO, “The honoring of veterans, a Star-Spangled concert during sunset over the Caloosahatchee River and fireworks…. Who could ask for a better way to celebrate the holiday.”
