Hirdie Girdie Gallery will be partnering with neighboring Tower Gallery and nearby Suncatchers’ Dream to host a winter reception on Jan. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served and popular keyboard musician Bob Housler will be providing live music.
Everyone is invited to stop in and meet the Gallery artists as well as January guest artist and former gallery member David King.
David is a self-taught watercolor artist, specializing in nature’s many moods. He started painting in 1967 while serving in the Air Force, stationed in Wyoming. He experimented with many different media, settling on transparent watercolors because of the challenge. After practicing dentistry in Michigan for 31 years, he retired to Southwest Florida, returning to Michigan in the summer to enjoy fishing, hunting, and traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska for inspiration, concentrating on birds and animals in their habitat. He has been participating in juried fine art shows in the upper Midwest and now in Southwest Florida for 40 years.
David’s paintings are in many private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. He is an award-winning artist, having been invited to the Winners Circle Show of the Art Council of Southwest Florida, poster artist for Art on the Rocks in Marquette, Michigan, and the Cape Coral Art Show.
His most memorable experience was being accepted as Artist-in-Residence in Denali National Park, Alaska, where one of his paintings in on display at Eielson Visitors Center. David’s work can be seen at many local fine art shows.
