Jan Ellen Atkielski is Hirdie Girdie Gallery’s guest artist for the month of February.
Her accomplishments are well known in artistic circles both locally and nationally, and include author, lecturer, painter, judge and teacher. Most recently, she was declared best muralist in Cape Coral for 2020. Versatile in several mediums, her latest concentration has been oil on canvas delivered with master strokes using a palette knife.
Anyone taking her workshops can attest to her skill with the palette knife tool, whether it’s spending a couple of hours to create a palm tree or whipping up a few powerful strokes on the canvas. When attending her workshops it’s “down time” for fun, fellowship and learning as you watch her demonstrate her techniques in a painting and then guide you into changing one of her photos into your own creation using those same techniques.
Jan Ellen’s paintings are desired by collectors around the country, and her 40 years of experience as a lyrical impressionist painter makes owning one of her paintings a joy.
From Feb. 7 – 14, the gallery will be having a special Valentine promotion. The public is encouraged to stop in for a complimentary lithographic art print of a watercolor painting by founding member Don Daniels. There is a choice of two Sanibel themed paintings and no purchase is required.
Hirdie Girdie Gallery is located at 2490 Library Way, Sanibel.
