Hirdie Girdie welcomes new fused glass artist Renee Farr.
Renee’s interest in glass began in the early ‘90s when she wanted to add glass components to her jewelry designs and took a class. She quickly realized that she preferred glass to jewelry and since then has taken workshops and classes nationwide to perfect her craft.
Renee is inspired by life’s beauty and likes order and symmetry in her artwork. Her love of color is evident in every piece. Renee has won numerous awards in exhibitions throughout Southwest Florida, and she also teaches at the Cape Coral Art Studio. Renee believes in giving back and is a member of several non-profit groups that promote the arts through scholarship, workshops, and events.
Guest artist for the month of November is mixed media painter Linda Lucas. Linda holds a fine arts degree from The Rochester Institute of Technology, with additional studies in Fiber Arts and Surface Design. She creates her award-winning art in watercolor and acrylic inks on paper, as well as acrylic on canvas, and painting on silk. Linda has taught painting at various locations in Southwest Florida, as well as in New York, and she conducts workshops throughout the country. Nature is Linda’s inspiration, and her experience as a florist is reflected in her joyful art that is characterized by bright colors, shapes and surfaces that are woven together to create engaging forms in both traditional and impressionistic art.
The public is invited to a reception featuring the artwork of Renee Farr and Linda Lucas on Nov. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. Join the Hirdie Girdie artists for an enjoyable, evening with wine, light refreshments, and live music by Bob Housler. The gallery is located at 2490 Library Way on Sanibel.
