Hymn for Her

The ACMA welcomes Hymn for Her on Saturday, May 4. Hymn for Her began as the duo of Wayne Waxing and Lucy Tight some 20 years ago in Philadelphia, playing garage rock and roots-punk via Waxing on drums while also playing either guitar or banjo, and Tight on cigar-box guitar, has blossomed into a trio with the many times addition of daughter, Diver, on keys. Diver has been part of the touring unit since birth, hustled along with mom and dad in the touring Airstream as they made their way around the country on what seemed to be a never-ending tour. ACMA singer-songwriter Dan Philgreen will open the May 4 show.

Jennings & Keller

Jennings & Keller will hit the ACMA stage on Saturday, May 18.
They are an award-winning nationally touring duo based out of Florida. They offer up 21st Century Americana with influences in folk, jazz and roots music. They fuse many different musical elements into a unique eclectic style that is refreshingly diverse.
Dana Keller, a veteran pedal steel, dobro, and guitar player, has spent years performing on stage or in the studio with such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Stevie Wonder, Larry Graham, Marvin Gaye, Dave Mason, Johnny Rodriguez and The Allen Brothers, to name a few. Dana has been an endorsee of the Gretsch Guitar and Drum Company since 1980. His dobro playing has been called “jaw-droppingly good”. Along with being lauded for his world-class musicianship, he is known as a “songwriter’s songwriter”, often drawing comparisons to Gene Clark and Jessie Winchester.
Laurie Jennings Oudin is a former Shakespearean actress who has spent many years on the stage. Her theater background combined with a lifetime of professional singing gives her an obvious command of the stage as well as the songs she sings. With a vocal style that ranges from early Joni Mitchell to Emmylou Harris, Laurie leaves audiences mesmerized by her stunning vocal delivery.
In the 11 years of playing together, Jennings & Keller have released 4 CDs. They have received accolades and airplay from radio stations at one end of the country to the other. In true troubadour spirit, Laurie and Dana travel the country in their motor home, performing at festivals, cafes, wineries and house concerts. Along with developing a large and loyal fan base, they have earned a reputation for quality musicianship and expert storytelling.
Local musician, singer-songwriter Karen Cohen will open the May 18 show.

The ACMA welcomes Passerine on Saturday, June 1.
Formed in 2009, Passerine’s distinctive sound combines vocal harmonies, the crisp rhythms of an acoustic guitar, the haunting voices of the fiddle and dobro (resonator slide guitar), the resonant lows of an acoustic bass. With inventive vocal harmonies and song-writing, supported by the sounds of acoustic strings, this dynamic group offers a fresh take on traditional folk and bluegrass music as well as a repertoire of original songs that range from sweet ballads to the edgier side of contemporary Americana.
Passerine is singer/songwriter/guitarist Carmela Pedicini, David Brain on dobro, Sara Stovall on violin and vocals, and Doug Conroy on bass guitar and vocals. They stay busy touring around Florida. Outside of Florida has taken them as far north as Maine and Massachusetts. In 2017, Passerine spent a month in Germany during an international European tour. Their latest album, “Shiny Things” was released in May, 2023.
ACMA member and singer-songwriter Fred Ball opens the June 1 show.
Doors open at 6:30 pm. for most listening room shows. The ACMA listening room is located at All Faiths Unitarian Congregation, 2756 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers. For more details and schedules, visit www.americanacma.org or follow them on Facebook.
