Laboratory Theater goes virtual with home theater

The overwhelming need to perform, to creatively respond to the changing world around us, and the mandate to keep everyone safe has led the Laboratory Theater’s team to develop new ways to continue to entertain.
“We have embarked on a hybrid theater-film model, which will allow us to have only one or two actors on stage at any given time to be filmed for future release. Basically, we are putting the ‘theater’ back into home theater,” the local theatre group said.
“In order to do this, the entire cast, crew, and Lab team are bound by a strict pandemic protocol that maintains a high level of safety precautions, including a quarantine. The Lab is not embarking on this endeavor lightly, nor without serious conversations with everyone involved, and we hope that you will join us for the end results and continue to support us as we strive to replace the main source of our income during this challenging time.”
Tickets for these filmed stage productions will be on sale soon. The new season starts with Disenchanted!, a new musical comedy. Our story begins years and years after our famous princesses had their supposed “happily ever after.”
You can bet that they’re not so thrilled with how things turned out for them! And what better way for them to express their Disenchantment than through song?
Three virtual performances will be available: Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
