Local Music Spotlight: ZZ’s Best tribute band

This month, Happenings Magazine turns the spotlight on another Southwest Florida band.
ZZ’s Best is a tribute to the iconic band ZZ Top. The sound, the look and production pays homage to one of Americas favorite rock bands. ZZ’s Best plays all over the country and occasionally plays here in Southwest Florida for special events.
ZZ’s Best has been rescheduled to play Saturday, Jan. 16 at Cape Cabaret, 4725 Vincennes Blvd. in Cape Coral. For tickets, call 239-549-3000 or visit www.apecabaret.com.
ZZ’s Best has been a project in the works for many years. The band originally started out as just another cover band playing the SW Florida scene, but as the band got tight they began to open some pretty big doors sharing the stage with some major groups such as: Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mountain, Greg Allman, Rick Derringer, Grand Funk Railroad, Edgar Winter and many other notable names in the industry. This power trio was quickly getting a name for itself and the fan base grew dramatically.
Ten years later, the original founders of that group are back together and doing ZZ’s Best. ZZ’s Best will make you feel like you’re part of the real thing with all the big hits being performed by this powerful and talented threesome of players. Members of ZZ’s Best include Eric Ellis (aka Rev. Southwest Ellis) on guitar and vocals, Rick Martin on drums and Paul “PJ” Jennings (aka Rusty Grille) on bass and vocals.
