Four short Medieval plays

The Bower School of Music & the Arts at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Theatre Program will present Mystery Cycles directed by theatre professor Barry Cavin in TheatreLab in the Arts Complex at FGCU from Oct. 25 – Nov. 3.
FGCU Theatre presents four short Medieval plays taken from collections that were performed on wagons and in the streets to the amusement of the common folk during times of upheaval and plague.
The cycle plays or mysteries were sourced from Bible stories and produced by local trade guilds to everyone’s delight. The FGCU production revives these old texts and, with very little alteration, brings them to life on the stage.
Performances will be Oct. 25 and 26, Nov. 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 27, Nov. 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. There will also be a discussion with the cast and crew following the 2 p.m. performance on Nov. 2.
Tickets for this event are $10 for the general public and $7 for students and are available for purchase at www.fgcu.edu/theatrelab or at the door, based on availability.
