Naples Big Band will open its 15th concert season with a veterans and active military tribute on Monday, Nov. 11 at Cambier Park in Naples. The concert, which will begin at 7 p.m., is admission free. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring comfortable, portable chairs.
According to Jim Castaldi, Naples Big Band musical director and trumpet/flugelhorn player, “Our first concert each season sets the tone for our concert schedule to follow. This season, we look forward to entertaining audiences with the classics they love, plus new material that will delight music lovers of all ages.”
While entertaining the masses is of tremendous importance to the organization, the Naples Big Band remains committed to the second part of its mission: financial support music education in area high schools.
“As a former high school music director, I know from experience that funding for the arts in high schools continues to diminish at an alarming rate,” says Castaldi. “When we collect donations during intermission at our admission-free concerts, it’s in the spirit of serving high school music departments with much-needed funds.” Fort Myers-based business RCM 360 has committed a 100% financial match to all donations collected during intermission at the Nov. 11 concert.
