The Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs will offer new exhibits in May.
The annual Student Showcase runs May 5 – 11 with an opening reception and scholarship awards May 5 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Elizabeth Williams: The Crossroads of Order and Chaos exhibit will be on display May 19 – June 24 in the Tranovich Gallery. Williams finds inspiration in the world around her. She is drawn to abstract forms and enjoys observing simple patterns found in nature, color, and shape in a landscape, and the complex lines in a person’s face. Her art making process is forever expanding as she observes, mediates and synthesizes her thoughts and emotions into abstract lines and forms on canvas.

“In this series of abstract works, I explore the idea of chaos and order and how they mutually co-exist and cannot be separated. My experiences of chaos appear in the many layers of paint, marks and shapes, reflecting many of the complexities of chaos that I internalize. These expressions find their way to the canvas in whatever shape and color they demand,” says Williams.
Additionally, the About Texture exhibit will hang in the main gallery May 19 – June 24.
An opening reception for both exhibits will be held Friday, May 19 from 6 – 8 p.m. The Center for Visual Arts is located at 26100 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs.
Meanwhile at the Center for Performing Arts Hinman Gallery, the art of Stephen Johnson is on display now through June 14. Stephen Johnson was born in Tampa and raised in Southwest Florida. He studied art at the University of South Florida earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a photography concentration in 1974. Johnson had a long and expansive career in the visual arts before his sudden passing in the fall of 2022. He is best known for his mixed-media collage paintings wherein he combined diverse imagery, varied materials and rhythmic textures to create complex works of art. The Center for Performing Arts is located at 10150 Bonita Beach Road.
