New exhibits open at Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda

The Visual Arts Center presents “New Beginnings” exhibit, the first juried art show of the year.
The Main Gallery will host “New Beginnings,” a juried show of both 2D & 3D works. This exhibit has over $1,800 in prizes and is attracting the best of the best. One of the prizes, The Bowles Award, is specifically for portraits.
“New Beginnings” will be on display Jan. 11 through Feb. 9.
Also in January, the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda presents “Then & Now” exhibit by the Artists Painting Stories group.
Artists Painting Stories is a group of three artists who specialize in miniature and small format art. This traveling exhibition highlights historical moments and their relationship to current lifestyles. Artists include Debra Keirce, Brenda Dale Morgan and Denise Horne-Kaplan, with guest art Brenda Berdnik.
“Then & Now” will be on display Jan. 12 – Feb. 9.

Passing of the Brushes
The Visual Arts Center and The Wyvern Hotel announce the changing of the art on the walls of the Wyvern Hotel on Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
The Wyvern Hotel has partnered with the Visual Arts Center to help embody the arts that make up so much of the community and downtown Punta Gorda. From the lobby of the hotel to each guest floor local artists have the opportunity to showcase their artwork as well as sell their pieces with 100% profits going back to the artist and the Visual Arts Center. Artwork is rotated every six months throughout the hotel to feature new pieces and artists within the community.
Upcoming featured artists will include Tes Sholtz, David Kelley and Beth Blewett.
The VAC is located at 210 Maud St. in Punta Gorda.
