New Phoenix Theatre’s second season continues in December with Inspecting Carol by Daniel Sullivan.
Christmas Carol meets The Government Inspector meets Noises Off in this hilarious hit from Seattle. A man who asks to audition at a small theater is mistaken for an informer for the National Endowment for the Arts. Everyone caters to the bewildered wannabe actor, and he is given a role in the current production, A Christmas Carol. Everything goes wrong and hilarity is piled upon hilarity. Perfect anytime, this delight is particularly appropriate at Christmas.
Inspecting Carol pays Dec. 5 – 22 in Fort Myers.
Directed by Joey Bostic, the cast includes Bill Allenfort as Sidney Carlton, Sam Bostic as Walter E. Parsons, Blake Dunkle as Larry Vauxhall, Carolyn England as Dorothy Tree Hapgood, Lexi Falance as Lexi Beatty, Cindi Heimberg as Zorah Bloch, Gary Hirmer as Kevin Emery, Denise McKiernan as Betty Andrews, Don McKiernan as Phil Hewlitt, Robin Murray as M.J. (Mary Jane) McMann and John Strealy as Wayne Wellacre.
Yvonne Shadrach is co-director, and Cameron Rogers is stage manager.
The new theatre group’s second season began in October with the cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show. In January, the new year starts with the searing drama Time Stands Still followed by the raucous musical The Full Monty in February and March.
The season ends with two powerful pieces, Terrence McNally’s Lips Together, Teeth Apart opening April 16 and comedian and movie star Steve Martin’s new comedy, Meteor Shower opening May 28.
