Players Circle Theatre, Lee County’s newest professional theatre, announced that it will hold local auditions by appointment only on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. for its inaugural five-play season.
Auditions will be held at The Shell Factory & Nature Park, located at 16554 N. Cleveland Ave. in North Fort Myers. Singing auditions will take place between 2 and 5 p.m.
Co-founded by producing artistic director Robert Cacioppo and managing director Carrie Lund Cacioppo, Players Circle Theatre is the pair’s third act following their successes with the Florida Repertory Theatre and the Pirate Playhouse on Sanibel Island.
Casting both AEA union actors (contract pending) and non-AEA local professionals, the general auditions are for compensated roles. Following the announcement of the season in three weeks, callback auditions will be scheduled. Actors cast in roles must be available to rehearse full-time for three weeks. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m.
In preparation for the auditions, actors should prepare two monologues, one dramatic and one comedic. Players Circle Theatre will kick off the season in December with a musical performance. Rehearsals will begin Nov. 12. Actors interested in auditioning for the musical should prepare two contrasting songs (up-tempo and ballad) and one comedic monologue and bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be on hand from 2 to 6 p.m. for those interested in singing.
Interested parties should email a cover letter, photo and resume torcacioppo@playerscircle.org.
Players Circle Theatre is also seeking box office personal, stage management and props, as well as seeking volunteers in all areas of the theatre. Candidates interested in applying to any of the aforementioned jobs can email info@playerscircle.org.
The Players Circle Theatre was developed by veterans of the Southwest Florida theatre movement, Carrie Lund-Cacioppo and Robert Cacioppo. They have been prominent faces of theatre in Lee County for more than 35 years, starting the first professional theater in the county in 1985. In 1998, the Cacioppos created the Florida Repertory Theatre, which has garnered numerous accolades, including being named “One of America’s best regional theatres” by The Wall Street Journal.
Players Circle Theatre will be located at The Shell Factory and is a professional black box theatre that works with the Actors Equity Association and provides Broadway-level entertainment. Online at www.PlayersCircle.org.
