The Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda will hold an open house Sept. 9 and 10 to allow the public to meet the friendly instructors, watch fun demonstrations, sign up for interesting classes and register for workshops. Complimentary mimosas will be served each day. The open house will run 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.
On Sept. 12, new open studios will begin and run through Dec. 23. They include fiber arts, pottery, 2D and portrait. The VAC invites you to come and be creative with other members. Bring your own supplies and work on any project you want.

“Altered Cylinders” by Joe Mayhew – Color exhibit

Two new exhibits will open in September. They include the Color exhibit in the main gallery which runs Sept. 15 – Oct. 12. Artists express themselves through color and the results are spectacular. This is a juried show that includes both 2D & 3D art.
The second exhibit is the Florida Watercolor Society’s 51st annual exhibition in the Goff Gallery and Rebecca Hall.
The month wraps up with the pairing of artists and local celebrities for the Battle of the Brushes. This is a fundraiser for the Visual Arts Center featuring local celebrities who are paired up with VAC artists. The celebrity does all the painting & the artist is just a coach. The Grand Finale Reveal Dinner, Auction and Party will be held Nov. 18.
The VAC is located at 210 Maud St. in Punta Gorda. For more details, visit www.visualartcenter.org or call 941-639-8810.
