In the month of September, DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is showcasing an array of artworks created by various Southwest Florida artists who responded to the gallery’s recent invitational call.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Fort Myers Art Walk. The exhibition will be on display through Sept. 25.
Earlier this year, the gallery announced a call for artists on their website and social media pages. The challenge in the prospectus was to create artwork using paper as the main material or surface, imitating, or honoring the beauty of flowers and/or plants.
On their events page, the call for artists was specific: “DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is inviting all Southwest Florida artists to submit artworks for this group exhibition, entitled The Paper Garden, Works on paper representing flowers and plants. The goal is to create a beautiful collection of artworks made on paper, with any medium or style, any dimensions, depicting flowers and plants.” Many artists responded to the call and the result is a beautiful and cohesive presentation of the many talents of our beautiful corner of Florida.
Art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts are invited to meet the artists during the Fort Myers Art Walk reception Sept. 2.
DAAS Co-Op Art Gallery & Gifts is located at 1815 Fowler St. in the Butterfly Estates complex in Fort Myers. The gallery’s business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
