Sounds of Summer continues with another great lineup of performances and talented musicians.
Remaining in the three-month series is a Songwriters’ Round with host Sheena Brook July 26 and the annual Singer-Songwriter Competition Aug. 23.
As the series continues on July 26, experience an evening of singer-songwriters performing live at SBDAC. This year’s Songwriter’s Round will feature The F.E.M. Collective, with artists Sheena Brook, Lala Deaton, Lockwood Barr. Each performer will play original songs and talk about the inspiration and the process behind them. Local favorite Sheena Brook will be your host for the evening and also give a special performance.
The Third Annual Summer Singer-Songwriter Competition closes out the series on Aug. 23. Experience an evening of original music from local and national competitors. See performers play for a chance to win prizes and a spot at the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest.
The competition focuses on original musicians in the singer-songwriter genre. Each year, SBDAC offers singer-songwriters the opportunity to perform an original song live, and win great prizes.
Competitors submit a video of themselves performing an original song. Selected artists are invited to perform live in front of a judge’s panel and a live audience. Judges will determine the grand prize winner, and the audience has a chance to vote for the people’s choice winner. The deadline to enter the competition is Aug. 12.
Join the Davis Art Center for the final performance of the summer series and support local, original music. College students get 2 for 1 tickets with a valid student ID. Present your student ID at the box office.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center (SBDAC) is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.
