The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center has two art exhibitions opening during Art Walk on Friday, May 3.
Divergent Inspiration, an inclusive group show by STARability Foundation, will be featured in the downstairs Grand Atrium, and the show Serendipity by artist Dharma Lefevre will be on display in the upstairs Capital Gallery.
Art has always been a great tool to help human beings represent themselves, because no one can truly know how others perceive the world and the universe. Every brain functions in vastly unique and divergent ways, with or without a “disability.” The STARability Foundation presents a space-themed exhibit to appreciate the therapeutic, skill-building, and life-enhancing process of making art. Divergent Inspiration encourages visitors and art lovers to see life and art from a totally new perspective: The viewpoint of STARability Foundation’s STARs and Trailblazers. This exhibit will feature and offer for sale artwork created by participants of the STARability community. STARability Foundation transforms the lives of hundreds of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through daily in-person and virtual programs, plus vocational training and employment support.

Dharma Lefevre

Dharma Lefevre is an artist based in Fort Myers who uses vivid, dreamy colors to take her viewers to an imaginary mythological world. Through acrylics and watercolors, Dharma creates art pieces that dance around stories of fantasy, always adding her own elements. She strives to bring vibrantly colorful elements into spaces where they weren’t before, creating a sense of magic and whimsy that is hard to ignore. Dharma’s goal is to create art that delivers a sense of peace, and that transports viewers far and wide to a world that she desires to share. She succeeds in creating a fantasy world, full of subtle vibrancy and longing for the unknown, while sharing stories of the beautiful mythology that has inspired her since a small child.
Opening night for both exhibits will be May 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. On the rooftop, The Patina Turners perform during Art Walk at Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden from 7 – 11 p.m. Both exhibits will be on display through May 30. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District. For more information, call 239-333-1933 or visit the website at www.sbdac.com
