The public is invited to Hirdie Girdie Gallery’s spring reception on March 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. in participation with Tower Gallery and Suncatchers’ Dream.
March guest artist Susan Kapuchinski is displaying her impressionistic oil paintings the entire month and will be available at the reception to discuss her art.
Sue Kapuchinski was a decorative fine arts painter in the southern New England area for 27 years. In 2003, after a year’s sabbatical in Australia where she studied at the Griselda Academy, Sue moved to Southwest Florida where she became active in many local arts organizations.
Sue now focuses on oil on canvas, and is inspired by memories, sketches, and photos of her worldwide travels, and strives to convey the magic from that sense of place. Sue also enjoys painting colorful local Florida landscapes. A composition that explores the inherent beauty in nature, either from a singular orchid bloom, or a specific setting, is her model.
Often times, it is the dramatic effects of contrast in light and shadow that hold fascination for her and which she attempts to capture with brushstrokes or palette knife. Her work conveys a soft, impressionistic, romantic, yet realistic mood. Her goal is to make her artwork sing! Sue regularly exhibits her award-winning art in local juried shows, and was a member of Sea Grape Gallery in Punta Gorda for 15 years.
Hirdie Girdie Gallery is located at 2490 Library Way, Sanibel.
