The 45-member Southwest Florida Concert Band will perform a musical celebration on a western theme with our Into the West Concert on March 26 at 2 p.m. at South Fort Myers High School, 14020 Plantation Road, Fort Myers.
Join the band as they mount up and ride the Pony Express with Across the Great Plains. The group will perform familiar selections from the Broadway hit Oklahoma, and the dramatic western overture Southwest Saga. Bob Helfrich will sing “What a Wonderful World” and we will have some music to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and some memorable Tijuana Brass songs.
The group will play an exciting and fun piece called the “Great Locomotive Chase” as the Brass Monkeys quintet will ride in with some familiar western movie tunes … and even some Willie Nelson songs to tap your toe to.
The show will conclude with a dynamic arrangement of music from the film Silverado.
All concerts are free with donations accepted. Information on the group, the scholarship program, and other performances can be found on the website at SouthwestFloridaConcertBand.org
