The Southwest Florida Concert Band will perform a concert Salute to our Veterans on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church 3411 Shire Lane, Fort Myers.
The 40-member community band will perform a concert of patriotic music and more. The program will start with a salute to the Armed Forces including the five main branch songs and move to the reflective Hymn of Freedom.
The band will play some traditional American folk songs and an arousing Sousa march called “Liberty Bell.” They will also have a trumpet solo, a euphonium trio, a swinging Glenn Miller medley and some toe tapping Dixieland music. The band will play the memorable “Homefront,” songs of World War II for the veterans to sing along to. One of the featured selections will be highlights from the 1812 Overture. The band will also perform the inspiring “Arlington, Where Giants Lie Sleeping.” The first concert of the season will conclude with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Phillip Sousa
