Cozy up with your favorite Pride and Prejudice characters and be swept into the sequel of one of the most beloved literary romances of all time with The Naples Players (TNP) production of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley.
Described as “an unstuffy, highly entertaining and warm-spirited work, the kind of thing multiple generations can enjoy together,” by The Chicago Tribune, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley is playing from Nov. 1 – 19 at Naples United Church of Christ in McSpadden Hall.
Told with modern wit and period style, the holiday-themed, Jane Austen-inspired play will enchant Austen fans and newcomers alike. Complete with teas from The Spice and Tea Exchange of Naples and a traditional holiday and Christmas tree-filled lobby for TNP’s fourth annual Trees and Teas Festival, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley is the perfect way to kick off your holiday season.
Two years after Mr. Darcy sweeps Elizabeth Bennet off of her feet in Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet family is celebrating Christmas at Pemberley, the Darcy residence. Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley continues the story, only this time with bookish middle-sister Mary as its unlikely heroine. Mary is growing tired of her role as dutiful middle sister in the face of her siblings’ romantic escapades. When the family gathers for Christmas at Pemberley, an unexpected visitor joins the celebrations, sparking Mary’s hopes for independence, an intellectual match, and possibly even love, and forcing her and her sisters to change their perspectives on life, love, and their role in society.
Director Julie Ewing is joined by the following team of industry professionals: scenic designer Kelli Harrod, lighting designer Chris Riley, sound designer Bradley Van Houten, costume designer Dot Auchmoody, properties coordinator, Amy Hughes, stage manager Jules Branche and assistant stage manager Nancy Hayer. The cast includes (in alphabetical order): Brayden Cloud (as Arthur de Bourgh), McKenna Cloud (as Mary Bennet), Christian Conn, Elizabeth Fincher, Sarah Gamblin, Gigi Kirton, Ashley Kosten and Aseem Upadhyay.
Performances are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley will be performed offsite at Naples United Church of Christ in McSpadden Hall.
