More than 200 actors from throughout the country will arrive in Naples Sept. 9 and 10 to audition for more than 50 roles in TheatreZone’s six musicals for the 2023-24 season, says TheatreZone’s founding artistic director Mark Danni.
“The annual arrival in Naples of triple-threat performers — gifted actors, singers and dancers – is a highlight of our season as we build toward our first show in October,” said Danni. “They come from New York City, throughout the southeastern U.S. Texas and beyond.”
TheatreZone’s coveted contract with the Actors’ Equity Association allows it to attract top professional performers from throughout the country. “We are proud to bring name actors to Naples stages, and to also offer a valuable venue for Equity actors living in South Florida,” Danni commented.
Non-Equity performers are also welcome to audition. TheatreZone’s Equity contract allows for a certain number of non-Equity actors in its casts.
The auditions will be held at TheatreZone’s G&L Theatre, located at 13275 Livingston Road on the campus of the Community School of Naples The auditions will be held by appointment from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10.
To secure an appointment, actors should email Auditions@Theatre.Zone with a preferred date and time range. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout the day as time permits.
TheatreZone’s 19th season features love stories from the comic to the edgy with music ranging from rockabilly to show tunes.
According to Mark Danni, “We are staging lighthearted stories such as Neil Simon’s Little Me and Million Dollar Quartet, and darker dramas like Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, Heathers: The Musical, and Carrie: The Musical, and finding hilarity in horror, and comedy in tragedy.”
Now entering its 19th season, TheatreZone’s 2023-2024 musicals will kick off with Heathers: The Musical, a joint production with Florida Gulf Coast University’s (FGCU) Bower School of Music, to be staged at the FGCU Theatre Lab Oct. 12-15.
